Big news! Someone just stepped up to sponsor Natalie for $50/month! 🎉 Animal sponsorship directly covers daily meals, medical care, and all the love our residents need to thrive. Want to change a life too? Pick an animal to sponsor today: vfas.org So anyway, here’s a recap of us thriving. 😉📊It’s always a little lame to root against people doing good work, but turning doubt into fuel is kind of our specialty. Happy 1-Year Anniversary to us, our amazing supporters and community that show up every single day. Bet against us if you want, but but we’re a little too busy saving lives. 💅 Right now we are urgently raising money for hay so if you can send $5, the donkeys would sure love it. This year's drought has made prices soar but the reality is we have a lot of mouths to feed no matter what the price is! The Real House-Donkeys of Virginia (Drought Edition) 🫏 Needless to say our donkey Bodi keeps things interesting around Virginia Farm Animal Sanctuary. Gloves in your back pocket? They're his now. Rubbing another donkey? Not today! 😂 Truly there is no other donkey quite like Bodi. I feel like he needs his own series, don't you?! 🥾 Sometimes you just need your long eared bestie 🫏 Farm Animal Awareness Week is fast approaching (September 13-19) And many of our daily tours have filled up. There are a few spots still open on Sunday and Monday, so if you were thinking about coming out, go ahead and grab em. Your Virginia Farm Animal Sanctuary bestie is waiting!! The peace that comes with sanctuary living ♥️ You have one camera crew out and suddenly everyone wants to be a movie star! 🌟Don't forget to tune in on Tuesday to Living in the Heart of Virginia on WSET to see Geoffrey the donkey and the whole VFAS crew! While those silly tongue rolls always get a laugh, there’s a deeper story behind the quirk. Donkeys often develop this habit when they are young and they are taken from their mothers too early or kept in isolation. What starts as a coping mechanism for boredom and stress becomes a lifelong habit. Even once they are safe, loved, and surrounded by friends.
